Fun Facts: Iowa-Nebraska football, infrastructure edition

Here we are, staring into the abyss of Black Friday.

Oh, it's not literally Black Friday? Phew! We can have Iowa-Nebraska Fun Facts after all.

1. Iowa has won the last six games of this series, and the last four in Lincoln.

2. The Hawkeyes' last three games against the Huskers were decided by six, three and three points.

3. Iowa defensive back Dane Belton is one of nine players tied for the national lead in interceptions, with five.

4. Nebraska has tied the all-time FBS record for one-score losses in a season with seven.

5. Iowa has been outgained in its last five games by a total of 498 yards.

6. Nebraska's 452 yards at Wisconsin last Saturday was the most by a team against the Badgers since Nov. 16, 2019 when Nebraska had 492.

7. The last bowl Nebraska appeared in was the 2016 Music City Bowl. The last bowl Iowa would have appeared in was the 2020 Music City Bowl, but Missouri bowed out because of COVID-19 issues.

8. Iowa is third in the nation for fewest penalties per game with 4.0, behind only Eastern Michigan and Louisiana-Monroe.

9. This is the fourth-straight season Nebraska has not entered Associated Press' Top 25.

10. Iowa is ninth in the nation in scoring defense, 12th in total defense.

11. The Huskers are averaging 6.6 yards per play while allowing 5.2.

12. The Hawkeyes have scored 46 points in first quarters, 114 in second quarters. They have allowed just 25 points in third quarters.

13. Nebraska hasn't won as few as three games in a season with at least 10 games since it went 3-6-1 in 1961.

14. Iowa hasn't won as few as three games in a season since it went 3-9 in 2000.

15. Nebraska has 11 Iowans on its roster, including three (Oliver Martin, Josh Jasek, Darius Moore) from Johnson County.

16. The Huskers have won 46 conference championships in football, none since they joined the Big Ten.

17. Iowa freshman wide receiver Keagan Johnson is from Bellevue, Neb. He was double-teamed throughout Bellevue West's 41-40 overtime loss to Kearney in the 2020 state Class A playoffs, and had just three catches for 19 yards. But he did rush 17 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and threw two passes out of the Wildcat, both for touchdowns.

18. Iowa has more structurally deficient bridges than any other state in the country, and it isn't even close.

19. Nebraska had the lowest unemployment rate in October of any U.S. state, at 1.9 percent. Iowa's was 3.9 percent.

20. There is a Cedar Rapids in both Iowa and Nebraska. Iowa's has about 134,000 people. Nebraska's has 382.
