Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar passes away after massive heart attack

BENGALURU: Kannada film actor Puneeth Rajkumar passed away after suffering a massive heart attack on Friday morning.The 46-year-old actor complained of chest pain in the morning while working out in his gym.Around 11.30am, he was taken to a private hospital. He was later shifted to Vikram Hospital, a unit of Manipal Hospitals, as his condition deteriorated.Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and leading actors from Sandalwood rushed to the hospital as the news spread that Puneeth, Appu to his fans, was battling for his life. The hospital said Puneeth was critical and they are doing all they can to save him. Speaking to media, Dr Ranganath Nayak, senior consultant cardiologist, Vikram hospital said that Puneeth Rajkumar reached the hospital at 11.30 with chest pain. "Prior to coming here, he had gone to a clinic following chest pain around 11 am. ECG was done in the clinic. He has suffered from heart attack. Treatment was immediately initiated as he arrived. His condition is critical," said Dr Nayak. According to an official statement by Vikram Hospital, Puneet Rajkumar was brought to the emergency department with history of chest pain at 11.40am. He is non-responsive. Advanced cardiac resuscitation has been initiated. Puneeth is the youngest son of legendary Kannada actor Rajkumar.
