First electric car In India Reva(Now Mahindra e2o.) |
Just gaining momentum with the hype surrounding India's electric
revolution, one might believe the first Indian electric car was something that
occurred in the latest past. Quite the opposite, as the first fully-grown
Indian electric car was introduced in 2001 just 3 years after India's first
indigenous vehicle. The Maini Reva was designed and constructed by Chetan Maini
in Bangalore.
The first Electric vehicle of the company was the REVAi electric car,
available in 26 nations with more than 4,000 of its various variants sold
around the world by mid-March 2011. The Indian conglomerate Mahindra &
Mahindra purchased Reva in May 2010.
