The Wire is a series created and primarily written by author and
former police reporter David Simon on American crime drama television. The
series was broadcast in the United States by the cable network HBO. The Wire
premiered on June 2, 2002, and finished on March 9, 2008, with 60 episodes
spanning five seasons.
